Sorrento Let Me Hear You!

Can I get a… Girl’s trip Girl’s Trip!

& what a trip it was, Amalfi Coast definitely earned a spot in my top 5 favorite places to visit in the world.

We landed in Naples early which was definitely the way to go because the bus to Sorrento aint short! Any place we could have picked to stay would have been long but Sorrento was definitely the place to base out of since we were going to be doing all the different day trips.. it is the most centrally located, has the most shops / restaurants & honestly is underrated.. it is so dang cute!

Can’t start off this summary of the trip without talking about the OG Airbnb host of all time.. Favio. THE man THE myth THE legend. This little Italian man picked us up from the bus station and drove us around showing his favorite spots then took us to our brightly colored Airbnb. He gave so many suggestions, all of which were amazing. So, Favio, I hope you have an incredible life you’ve truly earned it. Once our mans left we got ready to roam Sorrento. It is important to note that of the 6 of us, three of us where Nicolette, Vivi, and me.. so if you know anything about us you know that this trip would be 90% song. Prediction, instantly correct. By 11am we had songs about the fact we were staying in yellow rooms, a chant about Sorrento (title of this blog post), and a very important “pink church” – if any of that makes sense to you than I don’t know what to tell you because it shouldn’t. If I heard us on the street I would probably guess us to be age 12, at best. Roaming Sorrento was fun & beautiful but we were exhausted from the lonnngggg travel day so decided to go home to rest for Positano the next day. Well, we got home and one thing led to another until suddenly we were at a middle school sleepover staying up until 1am laughing about who knows what.. I am not kidding, we are 12 years old.

Saturday we got up and were ready to hit Positano. It was a great bus ride of twists and turns nearly falling off the edge – all while this girl behind me kept commenting on it saying “honestly if I have to go – it wouldn’t be too bad to have it be off the side of the Amalfi Coast!” ummm girl that is great that you feel that way, love the positivity, but some of us would like to live. Finally, alive and well, we arrived in Positano and man this place is the epitome of “pictures don’t do it justice.” All of the colorful houses on the side of the cliff are worth staring at for hours.. and important to note that that’s literally all we did. Essentially, we just walked around for five hours finding different places to stare at the beauty.. looking back that is exactly what I would recommend people to do anyway. Once our staring was complete.. five.. hours.. lata… we ventured on up to the bus stop only to be met by a literal mosh pit of angry Italians trying to get on the one bus to Sorrento. I would live to give a special shout out to a small blonde girl who literally stepped in front of the bus screaming “stop the bus!!” as us six are chanting “RIDE WITH THE MOB” and pushing through the bickering Italians. Finally, against all odds, the six of us got on the bus.. that is the stuff you can’t teach in school kids! Back to Sorrento we went where our lil Italian friend Vivi (aka Mama Vittoria for the night) made us homemade lasagna and we had a wine night dance party (aka that middle school sleepover I was talking about but with alcoholic influences.)

Sunday, Vivi and Claudia had to leave so now it was the four of us roaming Sorrento again. It was the first perfectly sunny day of the trip so we hiked two miles and found the most beautiful little cove and beach to tan on & stare at the blue sea. We also got a drink at the most perfect little hotel for a drink and a view.

Monday (last day) was our day trip to Capri, and wow I knew it would be a great day but it even exceeded expectations. We took the ferry over to Capri and roamed the glitzy streets in the city center. It was fun to walk through all of the designer shops on the streets, like my mom always says – find the wealthy area and walk around to people watch! Definitely did not disappoint. There is also a huge garden that we walked through that was super pretty and colorful. At two, we had our Grotto boat tour with ‘Gianni’s Boat Tours.” I found the family owned boat tour on Yelp (classic) and highly recommend. They were so funny and had been sailing in the family for years.. plus the boat itself was actually really nice. On our tour, the famous Blue Grotto was closed, but they still made a point to show us every other Grotto with historical details for each. The whole trip was around two hours and they even ended it with some homemade limoncello. The grottos had some of the prettiest water I had ever seen, we could have stared forever. I think we screamed about how much we loved life at least thirty times in the two hours. We actually could not stop smiling, just ANOTHER day abroad where I had the chance to stop, look around, and reflect about how freaking blessed I am to be able to experience all of this.

Overall, it was nothing less than an incredible trip with amazing people. The Amalfi Coast provided some of the most beautiful views I had ever seen.

One of the many places I have been to this semester that I can easily say “I’ll be back” to!
