Croatia: The Island of Hvar

Stop #2 on our travels along Croatia was to the island of Hvar. Here we had to drive to a ferry stop that took us to Hvar and then we were to drive to the main part of the island. The island is a lot bigger than we previously guessed, so make sure you plan which specific ferry spot to land at because ours was 2 hours off.. oops! Totally okay though because the drive was beautiful.

We arrived at our airbnb that was legit on a vertical cliff (heard a couple of F bombs from the brother when trying to park…. made sense.) But, just like Dubrovnik, highly recommend a small airbnb instead of a hotel at Hvar.. you’ll hear more about why later. First we did what we know best, wandered the streets of Hvar. It is a super small main city center so you can really do it all in a day so we did not feel rushed. We first stopped at a cute smoothie place since at this point of our trip my body was 80% pasta and tried to detox before we retoxed. Well we retoxed a good 10-15 minutes later with a mojito on the beach but don’t @ us. Then, we went to the direction that we assumed to be the beach, heyyyyy we were right and found a cute little free beach (not necessarily always easy to find.) It was so fun to stare at rich peoples yachts that we got the idea to go sneak into the 5 star hotel next door. Us ballers on a budget were great at this, and walked in as if we owned the place. However, within 10 minutes of sitting by the resort’s pool we decided that we were incredibly bored and had to explore more. SO again, do yourself a favor and don’t stay at a hotel the whole time — Croatia is far too cool. This was smart, because within feet we found the cutest bar in Hvar which is apparently very well known and becomes a club at night. Here we sat by the water with some beautiful margaritas and got significantly tipsy. Woooooorth it.

We ended the day at a fantastic little Croatian pasta place that we stumbled upon & enjoyed talking to a random couple next to us (who clearly were 0% in love) At this point, I know had been on more dates with Clay than I had been with literally any of my Ex- Boyfriends.. we made that an ongoing joke but then decided it was weird to talk about, good choice by us.

Hvar was beautiful and I highly recommend it if you have time - it was the perfect mix between relaxation & culture. If we had an extra day we would have wanted to rent a sailboat to go sailing for sure.

Then, we were off to Split!
